Retractable Safety Syringe
To prevent needle stick injury and re-use

Safety Lock Syringe
To prevent re-use

The Crisis

Health care workers suffer between 600,000 and one million accidental needlestick injuries from conventional syringes annually in the USA alone. Many result in death. In some countries, syringes and needles are reused, up to 200 times, resulting in cross infection.

Centers for Disease Control (CDC), claim 62 to 88 percent of sharp injuries can be prevented by the use of safer medical devices.

Every year about 12 billion injections are given globally, a significant proportion of which are believed to be unsafe for the patient, the provider or the community. Contaminated needles and syringes, accidentally or intentionally, are potentially causing many millions of Hepatitis B virus (HBV) infections and many thousands of immunodefiency virus (HIV) infections each year, particularly in developing countries.

The cost to society of the treatment of the disease caused by an unsafe injection is thought to be equivalent to about 22 cents US per injection - considerably more that the cost of preventing disease caused this way. (source: WHO)

Safety syringes are not yet fully integrated in medical circles because:

either too expensive,
inconvenient to use,
lack of enforcing local legislation.

The Solution

With the current crisis in mind, BeTeC has developed a range of Retractable Safety Syringes, ADS Syringes and is in the process of developing other safety products.

Our retractable syringe conforms to all new W.H.O. and N.I.O.S.H. standards and we are continually looking for cheaper and better ways to manufacture syringes offering maximum protection to the HCW's.

Our Mission

BeTeC Medical Science has been launched with a clear mission:

To provide a safe environment for health care workers and patients by developing and manufacturing, safety devices that prevent transfer of infectionous diseases through accidental needle stick injuries, re-use of syringes and needles and unsafe drug delivery and surgical practices.
To fulfill this aim we have created a breakthrough innovative, single use syringe design. Our first generation products incorporate fail safe technology syringes that prohibits secondary use. Our second generation features manual retraction of the needle. Third generation syringes are under development. This has been linked to a production specification that is based on high quality, functionality and cost-effective manufacturing.
Our fundamental aim is to make the safest technology available to the greatest possible number of people at the lowest costing.
By operating a high quality, mass volume manufacturing system adhering to the exact demands of medical professionals.

Our Vision

Achieve a Market Share of 5% of the global safety syringe market within the next 10 years
Enable sales and distribution or licensing opportunities in less fortunate areas, where lives are often at stake and undervalued, whilst focusing on a world-wide market penetration
Developing new and safer ways of drug administration devices by attracting and investing a considerable amount of time and financial resources into R&D.
